Care and Connection Pastor at Pine Acres Church Tony Cannon, who recently announced his retirement, plans to spend his retirement travelling and encouraging other senior adults to continue living out Jesus Christ within their lives.

Cannon regularly hosts devotionals with other senior adults. He said, “Until we draw our last breath, I think God has us here for a purpose.”

Cannon had plans to take a trip to Israel in April with about 50 other people, but unfortunately his plans were thwarted by COVID-19. The group has rescheduled their trip for October, and Cannon will be taking another group in April 2021 as well.

Cannon was raised in a Christian family, but swore he never would work in ministry. His dad was a pastor, and he was paid very little. Cannon saw how his dad struggled to provide for his family, and he wanted to be able to provide for his family better. However, after venturing out in his career path a bit, Cannon said he knew God had other plans for his life.

“When you’re in the will of God, the money isn’t a big deal,” Cannon said. “God has provided.”

Ministry brought Cannon to Weatherford in 1986, but he has many other interests including travelling, woodwork, home remodeling, golfing and riding golf carts with his grand kids.

Cannon loves to travel. He has taken many fun trips throughout his life.

He said, “I love to travel and I love people and those two things are hand-in-hand.”

Cannon and his wife Reggie have two daughters together, Rachelle and Robyn. They have four grandchildren ages 8, 10, 13 and 15. He has been in ministry since he was 18, nearly 50 years.
