The Weatherford Public Schools Board of Education had a special meeting Thursday morning to hire a dean of students for Weatherford Middle School and approved three agreements for the upcoming school year.

The board also approved a few new hires for the upcoming school year.

WMS Counselor Linsey Mickley was hired to also serve as the WMS dean of students, replacing Chris Farris who recently resigned.

The board also approved a district transfer of Wendy Johnson to secretary at East Elementary.

The board approved new hires Tiffany Owings as a second grade teacher, Eric Johns as district technology director, Cesia Aguirre as West Elementary teacher assistant and Jeanne Minton as district EVA, EL and GT administrator.

The board approved agreements with CCOSA, MySchoolBucks and Edgenuity for the upcoming school year.

The Cooperative Council for Oklahoma School Administration agreement is an annual membership agreement for the district. However, Superintendent Jill Henderson said the district went with a district-level service agreement, which would include training for administration level staff rather than paying for it separately.

The agreement with MySchoolBucks will expand usage of the merchant account to include checking out laptop and other technology. This will give parents the option to pay online. However, there is a 3.95-percent fee for using the service.

MySchoolBucks also is used for child nutrition transactions within the district.

Edgenuity is the district’s learning platform for the virtual academy. It also will be used if the district needs to go fully virtual due to a resurgence of COVID-19.

The board accepted the resignations of Assistant Technology Director Josh James, East Secretary Mary Ventris and East teacher Aleksi Richert.
