The City of Weatherford has scheduled a special meeting for the Weatherford City Commission to discuss two items.

The special meeting will be 3 p.m. Friday at Weatherford City Hall.

The first of those items will be setting a public hearing for a potential annexation of territory into the city.

The property is the former JC Cowboys located on the southwest side of Interstate 40 and SH 54.

In an email from owners Bo and Lisa Seibold, they said “JC Cowboys is a nostalgic building which was rapidly deteriorating and becoming an eyesore on the west side of Weatherford. We hated to see the building in that condition when it could be turned around and made into an asset to the community. Our business plan, once the building is brought in compliance with building code, will be to open a private venue and shortly thereafter a family friendly steakhouse featuring live music. Many people have memories of JC Cowboys from their youth and we would like to make it a fun, entertaining place once again. Weatherford is our home town and we want to continue to help the town grow.”

The second item will be to consider purchasing property for $800,000 at 1605 Airport Road.

Thae property is the former Chaparral Energy, LLC, building at 1605 N. Airport Road.

Mayor Mike Brown said this building will be used for “Economic Development. (The building could be used for a) possible substation for the fire department, a training facility in partnership with SWOSU, office space for city-related businesses (Red Cross, Sherriff,non-profits,etc). Investment. Lot of ideas, nothing concrete.”
