Mass of Christian Burial for Rigoberto “Rigo” Martinez, 80 year-old Weatherford resident, was 2 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2022, at St. Eugene Catholic Church with Father Kelly Edwards officiating. Services are under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.

Rigo was born July 8, 1941, in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico, to Evodio and Juliana (Villalobos) Martinez and passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at his home in Weatherford, surrounded by his family. Rigo was raised, schooled and married in Mexico.

After he married Martha Azpetia they moved to Guadalajara to raise their family. Rigo and Martha moved to California in 1979 where he worked in a leather factory. They moved to Weatherford in 1994 and worked as a carpenter.

Rigo enjoyed building and fixing things, walking and riding his bicycle, had a “green thumb”, loved all animals and birds. He will be remembered as being funny, always joking and had a sharp wit.

Survivors include: five sons, Gustavo (Norma Montes) Martinez, of Las Vegas, Danny (Shelby) Martinez, of Weatherford, Beto (Jacky) Martinez, of Tulsa, Saul (girlfriend, Isela) Martinez, of Weatherford, and Oscar (Candace) Martinez, of Tulsa; five daughters, Maria (Mario) Llamas, of Weatherford, Gaby (David) Cordereo, of Weatherford, Lucia Martinez, of Weatherford, Alma (Mario Mendiaz) Martinez, of Las Vegas, and Julie (Oscar Moran) Martinez of Long Beach, California; a brother, Raul Martinez, of Mexico; a sister, Lourdes Lozano, of Mexico; 29 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents; wife, Martha and three brothers, Rodolfo, Rogelio and Roberto.
