EDMOND — The Weatherford Lady Eagles cross country team finished seventh as a team, but Kennadi Price and Jordan Hoffman each finished in the Top 5 as individual runners.

“Overall I thought we did okay,” coach Kaleb Fischer said. “I think there were things the girls could have done better but mostly OK. I am thankful we got to have a season. I really enjoy this group of kids, they are always laughing and having a good time and they make every day worth it.”

Weatherford finished seventh as a team with 237 points. Plainview won the meet with 87 points.

Price finished in fourth place and first on the team with a time of 12:13.35. Hoffman finished fifth with a time of 12:15.15. Fischer said he was very proud to get to coach them.

“Both of these girls have had a great season and continue to show why they are at the top of our class,” Fischer said. “Kennadi finished out an incredible high school career which included medaling all 4 years at the state meet — back-to-back state champion in 2017 and 2018, followed by honorable mention in 2019 and all-state this year. Jordan was coming off her state championship win from last year and ran a great race to earn her second allstate title. They are so great to coach because they work so hard and push each other to be better, and they do all this while being great friends.”

Ana Arietta finished 59th with a time of 13:47.60. Fischer said Arietta ran a really good race this week and has been great all season long.

“Ana is so consistent for me,” Fischer said. “I can always count on her to show up and do her job. I thought she ran a solid race for us this week.”

Morgan Mouse finished 87th with a time of 14:22.84. Peyton Foster finished 129th with a time of 15:22.65.

Brooklyn Floyd finished 138th with a time of 15:43.94. Ava finished 147th with a time of 15:55.67.

The only runner who graduates this season is Price. Fischer said he is excited for what he brings back next season.

“I think we just need to get the girls who are returning on a little more speed work,” Fischer said. “They are all good runners but could benefit from being able to maintain a better speed later in the race.”

Fischer said there is a current eighth grader who could make an impact next season as a freshman.

“Shyla Navarre will be a freshman next year,” Fischer said. “She ran for the first time this year and had a great season I think she could really help out our team next year. She is extremely hard working and a tough runner.”

Fischer said the girls get excited for track season in the spring and it can help the girls with cross country.

“I think it will help us bring our confidence back up,” Fischer said. “We love track season and are excited for it since we missed out on another state championship last year so I think getting another chance to go win will help us bring that momentum back to cross country next year.”
