The Corn Bible Academy Crusaders have high expectations with their boys basketball team as they return everyone from last year’s team.

“We are expecting big things this year,” assistant coach Brendon Schmidt said. “We will take it one game at a time and we hope to get the opportunity to play every game. Coach Asa Zoschke is in charge and he is a defensiveminded coach and we are excited to play.”

Schmidt said Brendan Miller will make some big plays for the Crusaders this season. He said there are some good sophomores such as Carson Schmidt, Phil Javorsky, Gage Grube and Micah Graf. Some other players returning from last season are Harrison Penner and Joshua Clayton.

“As a coach, I am expecting everyone to contribute this year,” Schmidt said. “The sophomores are really talented and I am ready to see them compete.”

Last season, Corn Bible’s season ended at regionals as they lost to Chattanooga, 53-49. Schmidt said the team is more experienced and should go further this season.

“We pretty much have the same team as last season,” Schmidt said. “Hopefully we start where we left off. We are going to take the same principles as we learned last season. We are committed this season and hopefully it will pay off.”
