SWOSU falls to Oklahoma Christian in 5 sets

SWOSU volleyball returned to the court Sunday and opened its spring season with a hard fought, five-set defeat to Oklahoma Christian at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center.

Oklahoma Christian won the opening set 25-22 before SWOSU rallied and took a 2-1 lead with extra-point set wins of 26-24 and 28-26.

The Eagles tied the match at 2-2 with a 25-22 win in the fourth and scored the first 5 points and pulled away to win the fifth set 15-12 and finish off the match.

SWOSU was led by freshman Lacy Mott with 18 kills and 15 digs while another freshman, Taryn Galt, had a strong debut with 14 kills while hitting .237 for the match. Emma Cohalla added 13 kills, four service aces, four digs and three blocks. Sophia DeSantiago had 36 digs to lead the Dawgs while Allie Hoang posted a double-double with 53 assists and 20 digs.

The Bulldogs, 0-1, open the Great American Conference spring season 7:30 p.m. today at Southern Nazarene.
