Third inning helps Eagles beat Panthers

Weatherford baseball got the win, 12-3, against the Lookeba-Sickles Panthers, thanks to scoring nine runs in the bottom of the third inning.

Weatherford only scored a run in the bottom of the first inning when Brett Bozarth stole home. Weatherford used two triples to help score nine runs in the half inning.

Bozarth recorded an RBI single when he hit the ball to center field and Nate Reherman scored. Bozarth stole home again in this inning as well. Jayden Minter hit a sacrifice fly ball out and Reece Villines scored from third base on the play. Sam Hoffman recorded a triple and two RBIs when he hit the ball to third base and reached third. Caden Hunter and Camryn Pruitt both scored.

Villines also recorded a triple when he hit the ball into right field. As a result, Grady Chaplin, Reherman and Bozarth scored. Lookeba-Sickles scored three runs in the top of the fourth inning, cutting the lead to 10-3.

The Eagles scored two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Chaplin hit a ground ball to first base and was out, but Minter scored. Hoffman scored on a passed ball.

Chaplin pitched three strikeouts in the top of the fifth inning, and the Eagles picked up another victory.

Weatherford improves to 11-3 on the season and will host Clinton 5 p.m. Monday.
