EL RENO — Weatherford boys golf played in the El Reno tournament Tuesday and finished sixth as a team.

“We keep improving every week we play golf,” coach Kyle Null said. “Hopefully we can keep improving and keep lowering our score.”

Weatherford shot a 398. Tuttle won the tournament with a 332. Altus was second with a 337 and Guymon finished third with a 379.

The Sage brothers, Tate and Ethan, were the only golfers to shoot less than 100 for the Eagles. Tate Sage shot an 89 and Ethan Sage shot a 99. The other golfers to compete were Yukon Butler, Chandler Jackson and Charlie Magill. Witten Beam played as an individual and nearly shot less than 100, but shot a 101. Null said his team members are improving and said they met one of their goals for the season.

“Our biggest improvement was we chipped and putted better,” Null said. “One of our team goals at the beginning of the year was to shoot under 400 as a team. Now we can move on to our next goal of everyone shoots under 100 as a team.”

Weatherford competes in its next tournament, Monday at Elk City.

“We just have to keep practicing,” Null said. “We have two days of practice before our next tournament at Elk city so we should get some good work in this weekend.”
