OKLAHOMA CITY — Weatherford boys golf finished the regular season Monday, as they competed in the Western Open at Lake Hefner Golf Course and shot a 383.

“This tournament was tough conditions to play in,” coach Kyle Null said. “They had just aerated the greens so they were in terrible condition. It was cold and of course it was windy. However, we fought through it and shot a 383.”

The Sage brothers each shot rounds in the 80s. Tate Sage shot an 88 and Ethan Sage shot an 89. Yukon Butler, Charlie Magill and Dylan Hunt were the other three golfers who competed for Weatherford in this tournament. Null said he was pleased with how the regular season went.

“I thought we had a successful season with most of the team being made up of freshmen,” Null said. “Playing the courses for the first time, competing in every tournament we entered and battling the wind everywhere we went. I am proud of the guys this season.”

Weatherford will host regionals Monday at Prairie West Golf Club. The Top 3 teams in the regional will qualify for the state tournament, unless there’s a tie between teams.

“We are going to have to play really well to make it to the state tournament,” Null said. “It is very doable though. Luckily the regionals are at our home course so we should have an advantage. To make it as a team we will have to finish in the Top 3 and for most of the season we’ve finished in the Top 4 of most tournaments, so we will definitely have a shot.”
