ELK CITY — Weatherford boys golf finished fourth in the Elk City tournament.

Weatherford shot a 359 and all five golfers shot less than 100 for the first time all season.

Ethan Sage shot an 81 and finished fifth as an individual. Tate Sage shot an 87 and the other golfers shot in the 90s. Witten Beam shot a 95. Yukon Butler and Charlie Magill both shot a 97. Chandler Jackson competed as an individual and shot a 103.

“We have improved every tournament this year and to finally get everyone under a 100 has been one of our goals,” coach Kyle Null said. “Both Ethan and Tate put in extra work. They usually go up to the course and hit balls at night and it’s paying off. Really proud of both of them. I think we are slowly getting better as the season goes on. Now we just need to keep improving so when regionals roll around, we can have a chance to qualify for the state tournament.”

Null said Weatherford is getting better, but there are some improvements still to be made.

“We still need to improve on chipping and putting,” Null said. “We definitely have gotten better since the first tournament but there always is room to improve around the green.”

Weatherford will play Monday at Boiling Springs Golf Course near Woodward. “Boiling Springs is a tough course,”

“Boiling Springs is a tough course,” Null said. “It is going to be the first time they have all played it except for one so it will be a challenge.”
