Weatherford softball drops pair of games

ELGIN — Weatherford softball played two games at Elgin Monday and lost both games.

Weatherford first lost to Boone-Apache 11-1, then lost to Elgin 11-8. Weatherford falls to 0- 5 on the season and will play in the Best of the West tournament at home. Weatherford will play its first game, 11:15 a.m. Thursday against Hammon.

Boone-Apache 11, Weatherford 1

Weatherford did not score a run until the top of the third inning after trailing 8-0.

Lanee Gilbert hit a sacrifice ground ball out and Dacey Morris scored on an error.

Boone-Apache scored three runs in the bottom of the third inning and won the game 11-1 due to run rule.

Elgin 11, Weatherford 8

Weatherford trailed early in the game and scored runs in the top of the third inning.

Karsen McPherson hit a sacrifice ground ball out to the pitcher. Caton Young scored on the play. Weatherford held Elgin scoreless in the third and fourth innings. The Lady Eagles scored six runs in the top of the fifth inning to get back in the game.

Morris recorded an RBI single and Paisley Nelson scored. Carsyn Chase recorded an RBI single and Camdyn Falasco scored. Gilbert recorded two RBIs on a single, as she hit a ground ball into left field and as a result, Morris and Chase scored. Kayleigh Pebley recorded an RBI single and Gilbert scored. Nelson recorded an RBI single and Kinsley Klaasen scored.

After an Elgin home run, Weatherford scored a run as well in the top of the sixth inning, when McPherson hit a sacrifice ground ball out to the shortstop. Young scored on the play. Elgin scored two runs in the
