County approves resolution regarding CARES Act funding

The Custer County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution regarding CARES Act funding during its regular meeting Tuesday morning.

The funding is a reimbursement for the county’s expenditures related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The resolution states how much each office will receive and how they will spend it. The money will remain in one account.

Unlike money which will come from the American Rescue Plan, this money can be spent as the county sees fit.

In other news, the board approved a resolution for the 2021-22 county officer salaries. This is a yearly item required by law states what the officers’ salaries will be for the coming year.

The board also approved a resolution for the schedule of expenditures of federal awards. Due to federal regulations, the county is required to provide a list of when and how it spent federal monies. This resolution states the county will provide a schedule of expenditure for the current fiscal year.

The board approved annual agreements with:

• Cortec Services, LLC, for the courthouse phone service

• Russell Security Services for the electronic security system in courthouse

• Weatherford Regional Hospital for the county health department

• Pitney Bowes for the county health department

• Standley Systems, LLC, for the county health department copy machine

The board approved the transfer of court clerk revolving funds into one account. It recently was divided the court clerk could directly access those funds without permission from the board. The board transferred about $4,900 from three different accounts into a court clerk account.

The board approved minutes for the previous month as well as monthly officers’ reports, alcoholic beverage certificates and appropriations. The board also approved blanket purchase orders and purchase orders for payment.

The board approved one pipeline, utility or road crossing permit for District 2.

The board reconvened into the Custer County Law Enforcement Center Trust. The board approved minutes from last month’s meeting and received the trust update report.

The board approved five claims payable related to maintenance around the county jail. Items include security camera, roof leaks, a new video recorder and lighting for the parking lot.

Recent rains revealed more leaks at the county jail, the company previously contracted to fix the roof will be back out to rectify the issues. Due to the nature of the jail roof, it can be difficult to fix.

In unforeseen business, County Emergency Management Director Mike Galloway said he has a FMAG meeting today regarding the request for the 2018 fire.
