Two elves have volunteered to help out at the Weatherford Daily News this holiday season.

SWOSU students Chezney Neilson and Sophia DeSantiago have been running around town to help promote this year’s Chris-Giving “Buddy Box promotion.

The duo have been visiting with participating merchants and making fun videos for the WDN’s social media.

“We have been meeting with community members. They have been very fun and outgoing, which makes it lots of fun,” Chezney said.

Both girls are seniors at SWOSU and have finished up their final season with the Lady Bulldogs volleyball team.

Sophia is a health and physical education major from Amarillo, Texas, and will be student teaching next semester. While she really has enjoyed her time in Weatherford, Sophia plans to return home to teach and coach at a local school.

“I love SWOSU,” Sophia said “I’m so glad volleyball brought me here because I’ve made so many friends and the community is great.”

Chezney is biology student all the way from Roosevelt, Utah. She will be returning home at the end of the year to attend mortuary school.

“I had the opportunity to work with Lockstone Funeral Home, get a good idea of that line of work and I have loved it,” Chezney said.

Look out for Chezney and Sophia around town during the

Chris-Giving promotion.

Register for a Buddy Box at participating businesses. Winners are selected every Friday with deliveries every “Merry Monday” through December 20.
